Line 1 - some good news finally - ultra high upstream speed
« on: April 10, 2021, 12:05:30 PM »

Now, for some reason, the upstream speed of line 1 is ridiculously high, an upstream speed never ever approached by any modem of 775 kbps. The fastest ever speeds previously seen were something like ~29% to ~36% slower. How is that possible?

The only thing of note: modem 3 is powered down.

I've noticed that there is no error protection of any kind, neither retransmission nor FEC/interleaving, on this line.

If you mean which parts of the stats I determined that from, then it's that the INP values are zero, and the retransmission counters have disappeared from the stats.

The circuit is running "fastpath".

That’s good to know. I can’t see this reflected in the controls in clueless, I’ll look again.

and the same is seen on the upstream interleave control. I then set both to interleave=off, then "apply" and then back to interleave=on then "apply" again.

Even after supposedly resetting the controls, the detailed stats look the same regarding INP-settings. This is modem 1 again

I asked AA for some help setting it back to interleaved and they did so, interestingly the upstream sync rate dropped from 775k all the way down to 666kbps but that’s still a good bit higher than normal (at 500-600k u/s). Wonder why fastpath is associated with faster upstream sync?

Interesting you can fine tune your line like that on BTw based ADSL, when did that become a thing?  Usually BT insist DLM has full control.

I can see a load of cap values for upstream in AA’s clueless server.
