3gigabit internet - interesting hardware supplied.
« on: March 10, 2021, 07:19:02 PM »

Hi everyone. Just got 3gigabit fibre installed at home, actually is bit faster than 3 so happy days there. Hardware is very interesting and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these. Especially when it comes to checking stats!

Modem is Adtran SDX 602X, the router is a Zyxel AX7501-B0

Both working very nicely but other than having owned a Zyxel once before completely new brands to me.

Surely a fibre service has no stats worth looking at, its either running in spec or its not.

Modem is Adtran SDX 602X,

More correctly, an Optical Network Terminal -- ADTRAN 602X

. . . the router is a Zyxel AX7501-B0

An interesting choice of router -- ZyXEL AX7501-B0 -- as it has SFP+ cage.

However, as Alex has said, there will be no statistics to check. The circuit will either work or not work. A pure binary situation.

There's also a 10Gbps Ethernet port https://www.zyxel.ch/de/provider-products/fiber-access/ax7501-b0/overview

But ouch £99 a month  :o but at least it's symmetrical https://communityfibre.co.uk/3-gigafast but they do cheaper symmetrical packages as well, 300Mbps for £25 a month, very nice https://communityfibre.co.uk/.

I wonder just how many will order it and only have 1Gbps networks.

Lol I have no idea but it’s always nice to look at a screen filled with info you don’t understand!

Apparently they’ve only done a few of these but yep as you said people don’t have the hardware for it. I’m the first they came across with 10gb hardware. As for cost, it’s a lot but I’m not paying so woohoo!! Microsoft’s Xbox dept are paying for it (yes even though the Xbox can’t make full use of it my pc can :).

That's sweet, I've also recently upgraded my server and two PC's to 10Gbps networking  ;D

I'm paying nearly that much already for 230Mbit across three ISPs.

Its a steal even compared to 900/100 on Openreach for around 2/3 of that price.

I realise that for what it is and compared to other products its a good price, but I just couldn't justify paying that much for broadband, I've more important things to save my money for, such as hopefully an early retirement.
