Windows 10 and Bluetooth speakers
« on: March 14, 2021, 10:20:13 AM »

I'm am baffled!

I have bought an Anker bluetooth stereo speaker to get better sound from the Acer laptop we take away in the caravan. It pairs and connects but no sound comes out of it.

The speaker works correctly when connected to three different Android phones.

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones which I usually use with my phone, no problems at all using them with the laptop.

I've found a considerable number of posts on all sorts of forums reporting similar issues with a variety of solutions, none of which work for me.

Next steps:
  • Borrow a speaker from a neighbour and see if that works on the laptop
  • Get a neighbour to try my speaker on their laptop

Presumably Windows 10 is updated to the latest version?

I have had the same issue with a pair of BeatsX earphones in the past, the only solution was to update Windows 10.

Checked for updates using Intel driver update tool.

Have you checked that Windows is actually switching to the correct sound device, and are there any configuration options for the speaker, or in Windows for it?

Next steps:
  • Borrow a speaker from a neighbour and see if that works on the laptop
  • Get a neighbour to try my speaker on their laptop

Both of those tests worked instantly with no messing about!

If the speaker has a mic, disable it in Windows as an input option.
In my experience with my Bluetooth headphones, if I was to use the mic on it, it would disable audio to everything apart from the program using it.
Idk if this will help you but it's worth a shot.
