Devices that can support 802.11ax or 5G
« on: March 21, 2021, 11:43:38 PM »

Does anyone know which phones, iPads etc might now be out there that can support 802.11ax, or 5G, or both? I don’t know how much of my kit could support either 802.11ac wave 2 or 802.11ax. There’s no 5G anywhere around here afaik but I’d be interested to know how many devices there are out there in civilisation that can speak 5G and take advantage of it.

Let's not forget that 802.11ax covers WiFi 6 and WiFi 6e.  There's also early kit that may not support the full WiFi 6 specification which further confuses things.

From what I can gather, WiFi 6 STILL hasn't be ratified, which seems such a crap-shoot when so much harder is out there already that may not be fully compatible with the final specification.

It's is, you can filter by pretty much everything, so you can find a phone that has all the features you want very easily.

Its been my main reference for comparing phones for 20 years, surprised you hadn't spotted it before.

However the WiFi specifics aren't always covered in detail, things like channel widths, MIMO streams aren't always mentioned.
