Zyxel XMG3927-B50A shortlisted
« on: March 17, 2021, 11:58:30 PM »

Hello,

I’m using a Plusnet Hub One modem/router on an FTTC 80/20 line to a Huawei DSLAM cab. Line length c. 800m. A KBD GEA service test signals the presence of line crosstalk.

I’m considering replacing the Hub One with a Zyxel XMG3927-B50A; mostly because it seems to be the most easily sourced Zyxel combined modem/router and is a relatively recent design.

Has anyone successfully used DSLstats with the XMG3927?
What functionality can I expect; HLog, QLN, Bit-Loading?

Thanks for any input, experience and advice that you are able to offer.

Hello and welcome to the kitz forum!

Yes. It works as expected. No real issues to note after almost a couple of years of stats retrieval. I have been using DSLstats 6.5 for a while.

All the usual functionality possible with a Broadcom chipset should be available. On VDSL you should have full DSLstats functionality, unlike on G.fast where QLN, HLog don't work properly, bitloading doesn't get graphed at all, and, as expected, VDSL-specific pbParams requires VDSL. Didn't I say no real issues? Well, for me those things are trivial.

I don't know if you're planning on buying an ISP-branded device or not, but it may be worth steering clear of one of those as Zyxel states they don't support them directly. But that's entirely up to you.

@re0. Thank you for your welcome & reply.

As advised I shall avoid buying an ISP branded device. I’m now looking at sourcing from broadbandbuyer.com.
