Help with stats
« on: February 06, 2021, 02:26:03 PM »

Hi guys,

Currently on EE fibre plus I'm getting the following:

Max:   Upstream rate = 14832 Kbps, Downstream rate = 57732 Kbps
Bearer:   0, Upstream rate = 14832 Kbps, Downstream rate = 48997 Kbps

I am not sure if these are fair speeds given the stability of the line or a DLM profile reset would help because it's stuck.  Although I've largely ignored the performance (or lack of) of my BB, I did notice that the EE router uptime was always low (< 1 week) as if it had been recently rebooted or resynched or whatever the correct term is. I should have contacted EE, but decided to grab an HG612 to give me some stability, which it has. Since using the OR modem I left it up for 70+ days before I had to unplug it for another reason, but the sync speed never improved which makes me wonder if the profile is stuck on a speed that was lowered by  faulty EE equipment.

Modem stats are as follows and any input would be massively appreciated as I'm not sure how rto decipher them:

Off the top of my head I would say that yes you are correct, it does appear stuck/banded.

Welcome to the kitz forum.  :)

Currently on EE fibre plus . . .

Do you know which underlying Openreach product they use for that service? I suspect it is the 80/20 Mbps DS/US Openreach product.

Max:    Upstream rate = 14832 Kbps, Downstream rate = 57928 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 14832 Kbps, Downstream rate = 48997 Kbps
Bearer: 1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps

<snip>
                Down            Up
SNR (dB):       9.3             6.1

Looking at the above, it does appear that the circuit has been banded.

Do you know if your circuit is connected to Huawei or ECI cabinet based electronics? Execution of the following command will tell --

xdslcmd info --vendor

Take a look at the code shown on the "ChipSet Vendor Id:" line. If it shows BDCM it is a Broadcom chipset, which implies Huawei electronics. If is shows IFTN it is an Infineon chipset, which implies ECI electronics.

If you are connected to Huawei electronics then, once the banding is removed, the DLM process will eventually start reducing the SNRM target from 6 dB in one dB steps. It will check for circuit stability at each step and should settle on the best SNRM target for stability and synchronisation speed.

I think its safe to assume its on Hauwei seeing as its got G.INP enabled.  I mean what are the chances EE opted into the G.INP ECI trial?

Yes fibre plus is 80/20 and yes it's a huawei cabinet:

# xdslcmd info --vendor
xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Retrain Reason:   1
Last initialization procedure status:   0
Max:   Upstream rate = 14840 Kbps, Downstream rate = 57928 Kbps
Bearer:   0, Upstream rate = 14832 Kbps, Downstream rate = 48997 Kbps
Bearer:   1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps
ChipSet Vendor Id:   BDCM:0xa49a
ChipSet VersionNumber:   0xa49a
ChipSet SerialNumber:

Any idea what's the easiest way to get a reset?

I'd actually like the master socket moved to a different room, so I assume a reset would be done as a matter of course after this?

Also if I was to change provider back to BT that would also result in a reset by default?

Thanks

That wouldn't come with a DLM reset. The engineer who attends doesn't even have that option if it isn't a broadband issue.

It's not something they would do right now anyway with the current restrictions OpenReach have in place due to lockdown.

That should reset the line profile while retaining G.INP.

The lines definitely capped at 49Mb. With a reset it should sync around 58Mb.

If it was reset and the DLM lowered the SNRM target it might go as high as mid to high 60's.
