Does anyone here have a DOCSIS 3.1 connection?
« on: February 04, 2021, 11:58:09 PM »

I was wondering does anyone on the forum have the new VM DOCSIS 3.1 connection?

If so, how do you find the performance?

Does it feel like an improvement?

Usually only those who take out the 1 Gig package get the the DOCSIS 3.1 compatible Hub 4.

In some congested areas they are giving out Hub 4's to some users as it allows more downstream channels to be used.

There's isn't really any noticeable difference between the 2.

If I used a Hub 4 (DOCSIS 3.1) on my 100/10 Virgin connection it would perform the exact same as the Hub 3 (DOCSIS 3.0).

There won't be any noticeable difference like improved latency until the upstream is also upgraded to DOCSIS 3.1.

At the rate the rollout is going I'm thinking DOCSIS 3.1 will appear around these parts before FTTP.

So it becomes more tempting to move to VM once it upgrades.

So it becomes more tempting to move to VM once it upgrades.

Only if you intend on ordering their fastest 1 gig product.
Otherwise you will be given a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.

If you don't want the 1gig option it makes no difference if you order today or wait for upgrades that won't affect you.

If you really need such speeds, why would you not take out their 516Mb package now?
