3,000 premises (homes and businesses) without access to either broadband or phone connectivity during a pandemic!

Utter idiots!   I find it hard to comprehend how in an era where we have a vast array of educational, technical, medical types of articles literally at out finger-tips, so many turn to YouTube land as a source of information.  Here is proof that nonsensical garbage is dangerous.  This will leave the elderly and sick without a lifeline, and many more without access to workplace, education and services such as shopping nvm the fact that during the pandemic it will cut off contact with friends and family and entertainment.

We do all our shopping online as I wont risk going to the shops until I'm fully vaccinated.  It would be an utter disaster if the broadband went down, the double-whammy there being they may have taken out the phone lines and mobile service at the same time.

I'm surprised that no one has commented on Mark's choice of images to accompany his news item.

In the first image we see three members of the fire and rescue service (assumed to be Essex) with a jet of water being directed downwards, probably into a footway joint chamber.

In the second image we see into a footway joint chamber (possibly a large, three lidded, version) which now contains significant water, burnt & melted cables, burnt & melted fibre tubes and a destroyed joint closure (metallic pathway) or track node (optical fibre) or aggregation node (optical fibre).

Neither show a burnt out street cabinet nor a mobile phone mast.

I can absolutely confirm that the write up is correct. I've seen photo's of the fire damage at two of the Cabs and the mast itself, on our internal forum.

Absolute to55ers !!!

I can absolutely confirm that the write up is correct.

Thank you. I wasn't doubting the veracity of the report, just puzzled by the choice of images used to illustrate it.  :)

Do you have any idea as to the date (recent? / historic?) and location of the burnt-out footway joint-box?
