Thanks, I'll give it a try when I get chance....(i.e. when the Holy Sky box can be safely turned off lol)
LOL
You can change the 8924 sideband setting as that'll only bin the 5GHz wifi for a few seconds while it swaps.

yeah, I can do all the router settings, the 5GHz wifi swapping isn't the issue....it's being able to turn off the sky box to see any effect it's having. All I've tried so far has been with it on..hopefully Mrs.G-J and junior have early nights in sync soon!!

I have been reading this thread because I have VMG3925-B10C configured to use 5GHz.  What I have found is that although Windows 10 itself displays the network and allows me to connect to it, W10 software called Acrylic Wifi which shows details of all local Wifi networks does not find the VMG3925-B10C  5GHz signal.  It does find the 5GHz signals from other Zyxel routers and BT/Plusnet routers.

Can anyone suggest any other free W10 or Android apps that might be better in this respect.

For Android phones I use Wifi analyzer (open source no ad's), https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer&hl=en beware of clones!
or Analiti gives more detail and other functions (contains ad's) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.analiti.fastest.android&hl=en

Thank you both for the suggestions. They both find the VMG3925-B10C 5GHz signal.

I use Acrylic, and it doesn't appear to be the software that can't see the Zyxel 5GHz signal - it depends what channel the 5GHz is using and whether the wifi adapter the pc/laptop/phone uses that you're running the software on.

This was partly the issue I was having with the TT Wifi Hub before I got the Zyxel....the TT router would jump up to ch.100 on 5GHz which all bar one device I've got in the house couldn't see or use as it is outside the capabilities of their wifi adapters...

p.s I still haven't managed to get the Zyxel 5GHz to operate on anything other than single-channel :'( , so any other ideas welcomed..

I know, I know......resurrecting a thread after a while, but.....

after working well for a couple of months, the Zyx has gone t*ts-up :(

first, it won't show the UI, so factory reset..

second, it won't accept changes to the settings so can't get it back online, so...

tried to upload different fw, but it gets so far and won't complete...

..any suggestions before I use it as a doorstop???????

Are you interested in connecting to it via serial cable?

It's not the only way, just asking in case needed.

Which firmware version are you using?

If you're having issues with getting firmware upgrade to complete, I have found telnet and disabling the model check and firmware check helps:

Quote
To downgrade first give these commands from telnet or ssh using the admin account:

zycli fwidcheck off
zycli modelcheck off

Then try to load the firmware.

thanks for that, I'll have a bash (loooong time since I used telnet :( )

Currently on V5.13(AAVF13)J1 was trying 5.13(AAVF12)C0 which seemed to be the last one listed on the zyxel ftp site (found from other threads on here)..

That 'J1' version of your firmware is an ISP special and will be why it won't let you load the standard version. The telnet commands that @meritez gave should allow you to load stock firmware.
A word of caution though, I tried this on a Post Office version and the firmware did upload but I ended up locked out (https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,25402.msg426223 and linked thread, also https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,24413 started by @quboid who had the same issue). The common ground in those threads is that the lockout happened following a factory reset, so that is best avoided if possible. I had to go the serial route to unlock it - which was actually a very interesting exercise.
Also note that there is a 5.13(AAVF13)C0 version available for the 3925-B10B which also works on the B10C you have.

That makes perfect sense - the config page came pre-filled with plusnet details....

..and thanks for the other info, I'll have to dust off my (limited) telnet knowledge and get cracking..

oh, and p.s. got a link for that F13 C0 fw please?
