That makes perfect sense - the config page came pre-filled with plusnet details....

..and thanks for the other info, I'll have to dust off my (limited) telnet knowledge and get cracking..

oh, and p.s. got a link for that F13 C0 fw please?

@GunJack

ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/VMG3925-B10B/firmware/VMG3925-B10B_5.13(AAVF.13)C0.zip

Thanks for that :)

However, since last post I got a bit of time to play, with mixed results...

A further factory reset has allowed me to change settings, and so the router is back up and running :)

...but telnet won't connect, tries to and then just shuts itself down - has the plusnet fw disabled telnet in the router maybe??

..answers on a post(card) please???

p.s. I'm wondering if the 5GHz narrow-band issue earlier in the thread could be 'coz of this fw also.....

..errrmm.......no  :-[

However - it is now!! and fw changed to 5.13(AAVF12)C0  ;D

I'll see how this goes before trying the VMG3925-B10B_5.13(AAVF.13)C0

thanks @meritez and @tubaman :)

p.s. the 5GHz still only operates on single-channel

Well done! The 5GHz issue is bizarre, it's either faulty or it's detecting a channel conflict somewhere. Faulty seems unlikely as I'd have thought it'd not work at all.  :-\

@GunJack any chance you can post your current settings for your 5ghz?

I've just powered mine up, it has auto 100, 20/40/80mhz and I can connect at 866Mbps 5ghz from my phone, I do not have access to anything tri-band 5ghz at present

Yes, you are on a DFS channel, aka channel 52.
There's a detailed article here: http://wifinigel.blogspot.com/2018/05/the-5ghz-problem-for-wi-fi-networks-dfs.html
If that's tl;dr (too long didn't read) in the UK/EU, channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 are not subject to DFS.

Can you try channel 36 and let us know if that's any better, you may be experiencing False DFS Detection.

interesting on a scan-read, that, will keep to look at properly..

I tried 36, still the same, single-channel only. I've got ours and next-door's skyQ boxes using 36-48, which is why I use 52 for 5GHz. I think there's summat wrong with the zyx's 5GHz, as my TT Hub will operate on multi-channel 5GHz, but overnight it keeps setting itself away from the Q boxes to a channel outside the capabilities of the wifi cards in all the devices in the house and when I was using that I had to reset it's channel every morning...

You definitely have congestion/interference locally if that's the case.

If you used something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer& it should show if the zyxel is using 20mhz or 40mhz or 80mhz of bandwidth

I do, and that's exactly what it's showing ;)

my issue is, why won't it operate on multi-channel unless it's in some way borked. The TT hub works multi-channel alongside the Q box, another reason I'm thinking it's the zyx.

....the really annoying thing is that the 2.4GHz band will operate on multi-channel!!! as I did it by accident while trying to set up the 5GHz..

It sounds like the TT hub is working under protest if it resets itself to a higher channel every night. I think the Zyxel is just being less accommodating and is flatly refusing to work on the lower channels in the congested environment. Do you not have a single device that can work in the channel 100 range as that would prove or disprove the point?
