SNR Tweak Router in 2021
« on: January 13, 2021, 09:14:04 PM »

Hi All,

Unfortunately due to a house move I have lost fibre and gone back to ADSL - it is hard going but fully expected pre move as something we had to deal with for the house.

Now back with ADSL, I used to tweak my SNR down to around 4dB to provide a slight speed increase and when you on 15Mbit/1Mbit every bit helps.

Back in the day I used a DG834GT/N for the tweaks. Is there anything in this day and age suitable specifically with the latest wifi standards for home use?

Thanks

You will need to look at those devices using a Broadcom chipset.

I'm not sure which ZyXEL device (for example) to recommend . . . as you ask about latest WiFi standards. In which WiFi standard are you interested? 802.11ac perhaps?

Yeah, just something with both the 2.4 and 5Ghz as I have some smart devices on 2.4 only.

Is a Billion BiPAC 8800NL R2 considered a good device?

Cheers

No. It has a budget Broadcom xdsl chipset.

I wonder if the ZyXEL VMG8924-B10A, that vic0239 has available, will be suitable.

I can't remember if it is a dual band (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) WiFi device . . .  :-\
