Quite possibly one of the best books ever written and if you have an audible account have a listen to the one read by Constantine Gregory he really does bring it to life.

Agreed.

Our school made us do ‘book reviews’ each year.  We were given a list to choose from and age about 14, I selected Crime and Punishment.  I think I expected it to be like the popular TV series “Z cars“ or something.

I then remember picking it up in the school library and looking at the page count with horror.   I’d never really graduated beyond Enid Blyton before that.   But I also remember overcoming my fear and being absolutely riveted by it, absorbing it from cover to cover.

Unfortunately the habit failed to stick,  I never became a serious reader of books.  Unless they were books about car engines, electronics or programming. :-[

But thanks for reminding me of that. :)

You are welcome sevenlayermuddle glad it was a happy memory.

I do read a lot, an awful lot in fact and like yourself I've read my fair share of programming books mostly on C++.
