Can you ask Pulse 8 for a NRC, Number Retention Code?

This would allow TTB or a TTB reseller or Wholesale to reconnect you with the same number.

It's usually used for moving home, but can be used for bad lines that have another line installed and the number shifted for example

Pulse 8 are now advising me I might be cut off on the 9th. I dont mind that as long as I can get reconnected without hassle but the main thing is keeping my number as a lot of contacts have my landline number. I notice TTB advises me I would need a new line so presumably that means a new number. :|

The cease on the line suggests it will be completely disconnected which almost certainly loses the number.  Did you actually request to cancel the service?

Ah right.  I've always avoided transferring the voice side from BT purely down to the risk of losing the number.

Still working although it is early in the day. Have just tried the Pulse 8 number checker and it says a transfer is available which is what sold me first time. TTB number checker says Fibre isn't in my area but ADSL is! I'm sure last time it said a new Fibre line was available to me, not impressed.

Your PPPoE login details will be sent to you in the post, though you can also get them over the phone through support. It will be in the form:

username: <linenumber>@talktalkbusiness.net
pw: <uniquepassword>

Btw, they will send you their wifi hub free of charge, give it a try. Its a superb router, only reason I'm not using mine is that it doesn't support wifi 6.

So far it has been smooth with my confirmed date coming in an SMS text for transfer from Uno on the day after signing up. They have an online dashboard that shows order progress and that seems to change every day as the order progresses. It is a managed install so I might expect an Engineer to plug in the router for me and possibly run some tests but I plan to run the setup in my sig once I get the password now that Asus has ironed out the bugs in the RT-AC68U. I also plan to apply for a static IP (free) but this is not available yet on the product dashboard page.
