Which ISPs resell TTB?
« on: November 02, 2020, 10:07:44 PM »

Looking for a cheaper alternative to Uno. I was going to go with Pulse 8 but looks like my line is blocked for them with a cease order which will not let them place another order. Any TTB resellers?

You mean actual resellers or just ISPs using TTB backhaul?
Any particular reason why?

Isn't that backhaul leasing rather than reselling?  I would have though reselling would be virtual ISPs, where you're effectively just a brand without your own network.

TTB has served me well no slowdowns BT hasn't. Looking for a cheaper rental.

Alex you’re probably right - I didn’t use the term correctly.

Business or Residential?

Residential:
Zen
Post Office
Pop
Onestream
iTalk
Utility Warehouse
XLN

It's been a while since I looked at the resellers, some of them now may be backhaul instead.

I've never really thought about it, but technically I have one ISP on BTW and one on TTB, not really noticed any difference.

I probably only recognise the distinction because when I worked at Plusnet many moons ago, there were literally dozens of brands that were just Plusnet resellers.  I believe there were possibly even more as those were just the ones that Plusnet Customer Support also dealt with, I think some had their own CS despite still not having their own infrastructure.

He just means any Talktalk backhaul.

Pulse8 are a good ISP and not just a reseller, as are Uno who he's switching from.

Surely if your line is blocked for Pulse8, it will be blocked for any other ISP.  Give it a few days and see whether the block gets released.  I'd stick with Pulse 8 if you want to save money and still have a really good iSP.

Consider TalkTalk Business direct. They're cheaper than other TT resellers but still offer great support (many of their Warrington based support staff are ex-Zen)

I've just gone to TT Business directly, £26 a month inc line rental. It's marginally more expensive than Vodafone but I've seen my line speed go from 11Mbps to 18Mbps with the switch. Must admit I'm fairly happy, had to input new username/password in to the Sophos FW and away it went

TTB always used to be a 24 month contract.  For someone who paid extra to Uno yo be a one month contract and presumably picked Pulse 8 for the same reason that must be an important consideration for you.

What about IDNet?  They use BTw, TTw and Zen for backhaul, so you could request a TTw connection.  They will switch you from one backhaul provider to another without charge if you are having performance problems and it is only a one month contract.  Not that much more expensive than Pulse8, if you pay annually up front as you get a one month discount.

I'm still struggling to see how you can migrate to another ISP if your line is blocked though.

Pulse 8 are now advising me I might be cut off on the 9th. I dont mind that as long as I can get reconnected without hassle but the main thing is keeping my number as a lot of contacts have my landline number. I notice TTB advises me I would need a new line so presumably that means a new number. :|
