I use a modern phone with a UPS-C interface, and car charging has no problem keeping up with the satnav app (I use Sygic).

Yes I'm using Sygic on the tablet , may be it's the micro usb connection that can't receive enough power ?

Our second car does not have built in Sat-Nav so I have a Tom-Tom.
The cars USB socket is Not powerful enough to charge it so I have a USB charger that plugs into the 12 volt socket .

Changed it ;) , I'm using a plugin USB charger that's supposed to be 3.1 amps perhaps I need a better quality one
