VMG8324-B10A on BT Infinity
« on: August 20, 2020, 06:32:53 PM »

Hello I am trying to setup the router (in subject title) but I cannot get it to save the VDSL settings with PPP password blank as it says "Must have a PPP password" obviously I can't do this as BT does not use a password. Inputting a password lets me save but the internet does not connect.

Does anyone know how I can get this router to do as its told?

Never mind I figured it out. Turns out the VLAN ID wasn't set to 101 and as for the password it has to be there but you can type BT (in caps) and that fixes it.

802.1q is 101 and 802.1p is set to 2.

I'm pleased to know that you have resolved the problem. As is usually the case, the act of thinking how to explain the problem in a forum post sets off a background process in the brain . . . and some minutes later the solution becomes "visible".

As for the password, that can be absolutely anything you can type on the keyboard. The absolute simplest is one space character. Using just a space character makes the saved password appear to be null but, of course, it isn't.  ;)
