Upload capped to 0.8mbit
« on: April 12, 2021, 01:18:02 PM »

Hi, My line has been capped to 0.8mbit upload. It never goes any higher on a resync. It used to sync at 1.2 -1.3mbit with attainable being 1.7mbit upload.

Is this caused by RFI/EMI noise source rather than crosstalk or a damaged phone line?

Will the cap be removed if the noise source disappears or does it need to be reset by an engineer?

Thanks

Do you have any line stats we can look at please as it'll greatly help to work out what's happening.

Here are some SNRM graphs, U0 shows snrm fluctuating. Im not sure what noise source could cause interference at those frequencies?

As we can see, the US0 band is significantly degraded. The question is "Why?".

Do you have a telephone connected to the circuit? If yes, is there any audible noise? (Establish a call to 17070 and take the relevant option.)

I have a (slight) suspicion that you may be experiencing a joint beginning to show high resistance (HR) and/or semi-conductive tendencies.

In addition to burakkucat's diagnosis, the fact that it syncs at exactly 800Mbps, albeit at 6dB SNR, does suggest it is banded at that rate. It may well need a DLM reset to resolve that, but the underlying cause needs to be addressed first.

Hi, there is no telephone connected at present. I will plug one in and check for any line noise. I think its possible for a joint to be bad since that was the fault last time and a section of the phoneline is aluminium.

Ah, so my slight suspicion has now become a strong suspicion.  :D
