Many thanks for the insight into the "proper" OR procedures, lets hope that they were followed in this case.

Will just have to wait and see if any further information is supplied by BT prior to the next install date, as mentioned earlier, they  have been very good with communication, status reporting and hardware supply exactly as promised.

Lets just hope that the no show and lack of explanation regarding the missed install was a little "blip" in the system.

Hmmm ??

If your set-up is as I am assuming it to be, then the situation is slightly puzzling ??

Why ? Because part of the surveyors job when 'building' a splitter node, is to create a SNM file (Survey Network Markers). This contains various info such as address and NAD's etc, but also has a comment taken from a lengthy drop-down menu stating whether the house is fed underground, overhead, road crossings involved, trees in line of sight blah-de-blah.

I would have thought that A) this info would have been captured, as the full splitter node wouldn't get through the commissioning stage without it, and B) that a PTD form (permission to dig) would need to be signed giving permission for the contractors to work on your sons property.

Of course, this is purely guess work based on my own understanding of the situation.

Indeed as BS has surmised, my son noted from his on line order progress report that an engineer attended the property on 9th Sept, that was exactly a week before the original promised FTTP install date, there was no visable signs of any activity and he did not contact the residents, the house was occupied all that day.
Probably to expectation for a survey ?

The record of this visit was removed from the order progress report the day after the no show original install date, no further entries have been added to date other than the new install date of 1st October.
Hopefully this will go ahead as promised  :fingers:

On schedule, 2 Krone/OR vans turned up this morning for the FTTP install at my son's residance, very pleasant and communicative engineers.
They were initially confident that they could install the fibre/copper cable into the existing UG duct which was not a DIG installation as originally thought, the process would incorporate removing the existing copper cable and replacing with the new fibre/copper cable.

However and very unfortunately, a gas installation had taken place yesterday at his neighbours property involving a dig which would have crossed the cable duct path at right angles, now filled in again, the engineers reported that there was now a blockage at that point and they could not proceed any further, had to abort the installation and refer further remedial action back to BT/OR.

So, now awaiting repair/unblocking of the original duct or running of a new duct, thankfully the existing cable appears to be intact with phone and BB service still normal.
