Has anyone used the above as a router with wired access point. Thinking of trying this setup with the Asus 1200G+ as a wifi AP. Thoughts?

I use one as a router, connected to a UniFi AP AC LITE access point (via a PoE switch). It's a very reliable configuration and works fine.

The VMG1312-B10A is relatively old hardware and probably not as powerful as newer routers. I never experience any slowdown, but I don't do anything which puts the router under high load (mostly just "normal" internet traffic and video streaming).  Not sure how it would cope with something like BitTorrent which uses a lot of simultaneous connections.

Any particular reason not to just continue using it in bridge mode?

Further thinking I have 3 options at this point. If the 1200G fails to download at full speed after 2 days, I can turn my ZyXel modem into a router and use the 1200G as an access point. Or use the reboot scheduler once a day for the 1200G as a router. The third option is for Asus to fix the firmware which may take a while if at all.
