BT Retail now selling 0.5 & 1 Gig on FTTP
« on: March 22, 2020, 03:38:19 PM »

Very tempting at these prices but I'll wait until BT Business start selling the same packages - a static IP address is a must for me.

I'm using dynamic DNS which is adequate.

I'll give it a workout on Tuesday and report back.

Nope, just a token charge for P+P for the router if you don't have one.

CarlT, do report back on what sort of speeds you get on the 1 Gig service.

O/T - if you're looking for a decent high end router, then I highly recommend the Netgear RAX200. The wifi range/coverage on this is insane  :P

Going to give the RAX120 a go. Having been burned by the chipset in the RAX200 I'm a little suspicious of it.

If you were using the Asus AX11000 previously (same chipset as RAX200) then this is buggy as hell as are most Asus routers when relatively new. Ever since the notorious RT-AC87U, I haven't touched any Asus router.

Anyhoo, you won't be disappointed with the RAX120.

How are you finding the service with BT?

FTTP just went available to order on my street, currently with AA but their FTTP doesn't offer speeds higher than 160 and don't really want to pay £100 installation cost for less. Have been with BT before, but always had to use their forum and request a mod for support, is a call centre still the only other support option?
