Daily SNRM drops
« on: May 19, 2020, 09:34:37 AM »

https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,22532.45.html

Having tried all the helpful recommendations in the old post above, nothing has solved the problem. I know @kitz has a similar problem, but mine is EXACTLY the same time daily. A daily resync on ADSL2 is not in its self a major problem, and if I didn’t know I likely might not know.

However similar to @kitz occasionally the resync happens during the burst giving a high SNRM and ES needing a manual resync to sort. Also it drops my VPN, again this re syncs but potential at a low speed.

Given OR wouldn’t be able to find this, are there any mitigation’s I could try to try and hang on to sync. Perhaps getting the SNRM altered to 9db so a drop might not go to minus and hold sync ? Or having the line interleaved? I would "Cap" the speed, but I don't think you can do that with ADSL2 on a HG612 ?

My VDSL circuit suffers the same but a small dip in SNRM for the same CRC burst, and ES burst, and always stays in sync. I’m assuming the interference is either at the lower tones, or nearer the exchange than the cab. Hence the reduced effect on my VDSL.

Suggestions welcome.

As the circuit is currently configured as fast-path, the first thing I would try is interleaving.

Thanks @bcat I will request that to be applied.

Struggled to get PN to make this change, but it’s disappeared for the moment. This is usual normally a few days, I thought at one time the offender might me away but this is unlikely in the current lockdown. Also at one time I thought summer would be ok, central heating turned off but that theory didn’t work.

Meanwhile if sourced a VMG8924-B10A. I’ve been looking for one for some time as I believe there is a noise filter in this series (B10A). Originally to try and get a bit more sync on my VDSL2 circuit, but would this filter help on the problematic ADSL2 circuit ?

That is impossible to say. You would need to perform an experiment.

Well before I could do anything for the last 2 days Iv'e had massive errors on this circuit. Want surprised to see DLM take action at 3:40 this morning, however it didn't change from FastPath to interleave, but changed SNRM to just over 9db. I think this is a SNR change rater than a Cap but I might be wrong. The errors have subsided, but the 0917 SHINE burst can still be seen at under 300CRC, much less than the 1000+ normally. Together with the SES again st much reduced number

The sync has reduced but still acceptable. Still interesting the errors not evident on my VDSL2 line.

Probably due to the different (higher) frequencies used on VDSL2 lines, so whatever causing the errors (may be some kind of interference) can reach both lines the VDSL2 connection is not affected or much less compared with the ADSL2+ connection.

I had thought that was a likely answer. Unfortunately I have bad and old al cable serving my premises, so even my VDSL is relatively poor.

Given the extreme noise busts may have past is it appropriate to as PN to put me back on 6db ?

DLM would do that if things are better now, it would need sometime to monitor before taking the action "I guess".
