8 port Gigabit switch
« on: May 07, 2020, 11:14:45 AM »

I want to buy 8 port gigabit switch and i want to ask which one i should buy? SG108 or SG108E or LS1008G one?
SG108/SG108E does support IGMP snooping but LS1008G doesn't support it. So, I have a question if i buy the LS1008G which is the cheapest one will my IPTV work on it?

You've asked a rather difficult question. Nobody in the UK will have any experience of your ISP/CP and the requirements for the services they offer.

Looking at the the page for the LS1008G and scrolling down to the section headed "Plug and Play" we see in the second, middle, illustration, the connection of an IPTV device.

It might be best if you contact TP-Link, explain your requirements and see what they suggest?

Another alternative would be to purchase an LS1008G via Amazon and test it. You could then return it, if it doesn't work with your IPTV service.

here's the reply i got from tplink support
Tag frames can pass through all our TP-Link unmanaged switches. IPTV will work on LS1008G, and this switch will not block the IPTV data.

I would, therefore, accept that statement and purchase an LS1008G.  :)
