HXBs

Janet has been making hot crossed buns today, but she has forgotten to put the crosses in. Due to the lockdown she was rather desperate for ingredients too, so some improvised alternatives were substituted. Clear evidence that she is feeling a lot better.

My, these look good.

We seem to have run out of treats ourselves so this morning, as a breakfast surprise for better half, I tried my own hand at baking, a dozen sultana scones.  I’m pretty much a novice and whilst my own whilst results were perfectly edible, Mrs Weaver’s HXBs look so much nicer.  :)

Flour seems to have joined the ranks of ‘unavailable products’ in this neck of the woods.     I’m guessing all the people who panic bought all the bread making machines have been panic buying all the flour, to try out their machines. :-[

Mrs Weaver glazed them with orange marmalade. That’s part of the reason for their colour. We have plenty of flour in and huge amounts of toilet rolls; both of these are because we always got through lots of these items regularly from doing tourist accommodation nothing to do with the pandemic so we had regular deliveries set up which just kept rolling, but now we’re not using them at the same rate since the business was forced to close.
