All-lines micro-outage; OR by my house
« on: March 26, 2020, 03:04:31 PM »

Openreach man seen just above the Heasta upper cattle grid, by my house. It’s now 14:48. At 13:54 all my lines went down for two mins. Then at 14:44, two of my lines blipped, down 6 secs, which is just a timeout in my CQM PPP LCP polling iirc.

Seems a suspicious coincidence - very naughty, knackering all my lines, either by accident or unavoidably. Or is it the other way around; ie did the whole village go off and OR had an automatic report of it and came straight out? Doesn’t seem at all likely, as he was here too quickly and the outage was way too short, more like modems just reinitialising. Anyway gold medal or onion to BT man.

Actually, a question: does OR ever come out without being asked by a CP because of an automatically detected problem?

Actually, a question: does OR ever come out without being asked by a CP because of an automatically detected problem?

In the past (before the creation of Openreach), there was a time when engineering staff would go and fix an automatically-detected fault.

I think a certain sheep could confirm but I believe the current leadership at Openreach have put much more emphasis on preventive/proactive maintenance than had been the case for a few years.

He triggered your outage. Was likely fixing an intermittent issue or carrying out proactive maintenance before it became a full outage.

Either way very brief and had to be done so gold star.
