In these times above all, I think it is important to recognise there are a number of different sources of science that people recognise.
There is “science by celebrity”, such as when an actor in nature documentaries suddenly becomes an expert on petrochemicals. This then overlaps with the next...
There is “science by public opinion”, such as when large bodies of lay people, egged on by an individual with a talent for egging on, become convinced that government needs to alter its path, possibly on ecological or climatic matters.
There is “science by social media”, when a Youtube video goes viral.
Lastly, there is science by academic research. That is the only science we should take seriously. Always ask the so-called scientist that you are following what degree course they took, and at what university. I am not aware of any such science ever suggesting a hazard from WiFi.
