I tend to be a bit old fashioned. I think I should bite the bullet and get an u t d version of office, but can find nowhere to get a disc as opposed to a download.

is there any place at all from which to get what I want?

The boat has sailed if you really feel the need to stay up to date on Microsoft Office. Office 2019 is available for download but will remain behind the online Office 365. I think that Office 2013 was the last available on DVD.

Does your current Office do what you want? If so stick with it. You are not missing anything if all you want is the ribbon, quite the contrary.

Really? :-\There are similar cheap offers on Amazon, but a fair few turn out as duds, sometimes after an interval, from feedbacks.

That’s frightening too cheap. As mentioned the activation key might work, then stop after the usual trial period. Buyer beware !

They are disturbingly cheap, but seems to work and register with MS without issue, I recently bought Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2019

Yes when you register at Microsoft Office site, they will authenticate the key before you are allowed to download the software.
If the key is not authenticated you cannot go any further.
Once registered you will get a personalized copy to install on your HARDWARE! normally just once.
If you change the hardware you must telephone to get the key cleared, by Microsoft, as I did when my mate changed his motherboard, phoned MS they confirmed that just one copy was being used, they then cleared the key for reuse and stayed on the phone to confirm all was well... I choose to let the Rep tell me the block codes rather than the automated system

One drawback with OpenOffice is that it cannot save to current Microsoft Office formats. LibreOffice can and is more widely used.

I switched to using Office 365 a couple of years ago, with several PC's/laptop that require it that works out better for us.

One thing I did notice on the PC Pro Shop is Windows 10 Professional for £40 and Windows 10 Home for £30, bargain prices if you don't have an old W7 or W8 licence to use.

How does that work when some volume licenses use a single key?  Would be real PITA for the business who paid for it once they key leaks into the wild, as how do you prove legitimate from illegitimate license activations?
