Cabinet identification (G.fast?)
« on: February 09, 2020, 12:36:39 PM »

Hi,

My PCP has recently been upgraded with two additional pods having been bolted-on. I'm hoping that one of them may be for G.fast. I have done a bit of searching and I think that the one on the left side is just for extra capacity, and that the one on the right is (hopefully) for G.fast.

Hopefully someone can have a look at the attached photos and confirm this?

I have BT Broadband Availability Checker and there is no mention of G.fast yet, but my line is provided by Sky, so I can only do an address search.

If this is a G.fast pod, what can I expect next? Is there anywhere else that I can find more information on availability?

They use these vented side pods for VDSL now.
You can't tell if it's a G.Fast pod from looking any more.

Fooled me a few weeks back too.    :/
There's about half a dozen cabs in my immediate area which have very recently had a new vented pod attached.
One of the cabs had one of the 'standard' pair relief pods attached a few months ago..  then within the past few weeks also had a vented pod fitted on the other side at around the same time as the others.

Mine's definitely not g.fast and has since been confirmed as containing additional tie pairs.
