.uk domains question
«
on:

I have a group of .co.uk domains; I currently also have taken the corresponding .uk domains with no "co" label. My question: if I do not renew the plain .uk with no "co", can someone else take it while I still continue to hold the .co.uk?

Hi
Yes, if you allow to expire the domains could be registered to someone without holding the .co.uk
Many thanks

Thanks John
I looked in the Nominet rules and couldn’t see anything. Just another way of wringing more money out of us for "example.uk"as well as "example.sld.uk".

the .co.uk and .uk are not linked in any way.
similar to .org.uk not being linked to co.uk.
i don't see it as wringing money out of anyone. if you domain is valuable then you'd want .com as well, but one wouldn't expect that to be linked to any other TLD.

Plus if they do expire, the chances of them been taken is very high, as some people make a business out of grabbing expired domain names so they can get extort money from the previous owner.

No, but if you had a .co.uk you now have to pay again for the .uk too. I think it should be possible to buy bundles of related domains at a reduced price to reflect slight economy of scale.

well you don't "have to" pay again for anything. it's only required if you want that particular domain too.
