Nice
I found Panasonic ones https://uk.farnell.com/panasonic/eca0jhg102/cap-1000-f-6-3v-20/dp/9692738?st=1000%20%C2%B5F%206.3v
Could you please do picture of the last one when you remove it, I will order all three and get them done just in case  ;)

The last one is 470uF 25V LE 105C.  I ordered these.

I've used a supplier on eBay many times going by the name of semtech1, they do good quality Panasonic caps & are very reasonable.
Now I'm going to suggest something that will have professional solderers up in arms, but it works.
If you can't get the old caps out, take a pair of pliers & pull the tops off leaving the legs behind, trim & solder to them.
Nasty but practical if they just won't budge.

I don't like the idea of ripping leaky caps open, even if they've probably dried out.

I was however tempted to leave the new caps with just the very tip of the legs soldered in as they were so defiant in going any further, but I couldn't live with myself doing such shoddy work.  ;)

Thanks a lot, I just order set for mine, also Panasonic but I checked on Farnell and small ones got 6000 hours life span and big one got 10000 hours life span, should last  ;)
Let me know how if you notice any difference.

It always cracked me up these lifetime figures, presumably that means when used at 105C 24/7, I think we'd have bigger problems then.  ::)

Are there average lifespan figures for saner temperatures?

Yeah, about September will need to change them again
I guess these are extreme conditions, but I could choose, so I get higher values. However with home conditions plus a bit heat from working components inside modem this will never reach extreme 105 C so I guess life spam can be easily doubled if not tripled.
I use this modem for good 7 years now and didn't blow up yet, not sure if I will still use for another year, but until I change for something else this will give me peace of mind for now.

Yeah mine was manufactured in 2013 though granted, I've barely used it.  But then if it was sat in an Openreach van for what, two years before I got it?  They could have been baking at god knows what temperature.

I wouldn't worry about storage temperatures, I think life span is for working conditions so should be OK.  ;)

Storage definitely counts to some extent, I've seen posts of leaky caps where the device in question was never even used.  I don't think this ECI has even had 12 months use, I switched almost immediately to the HG612 to get stats.

Granted there is probably a huge difference between random Chinese brand and Panasonic.  I hope so, these caps have been sat around the house for probably 10 years.

Nice
Any difference in operating? More stable, less errors? Anything?

I've been fiddling a lot with the HH5A so don't really want to resync again, I'm just going to stick with that as it has a faster CPU, more RAM and more NAND.

I will probably test the ECI eventually, if nothing else to make sure it works in case I decide to sell it on, especially as I also flashed it to OpenWRT.  I know it boots fine.

Kinda crazy I spent £5 fixing something I probably wont use, but it does feel good to extend the life of things rather than throw them away.  Pretty much anything that can run OpenWRT I have a nasty habit of keeping.  Maybe I can build a not-so-super computer out of all these old routers? :p

Good idea, as if you dig through this forum there are other people reporting the same caps failing so its clearly a common issue.

Just makes me sad how many of these units will likely have ended up in the trash.
