No, the R2 version has an inferior DSL chipset, and isn't a good performer. You need the original version, but you'll be lucky to find one.

Thanks  :)

I was looking at a Zyxel VMG4005-B50A-EU01V1F
but its out of stock and now not sure on how good or what the chipset is
I think its broadcom but as I've been advised there are bad and good ones

So is this the one to go for, I need a good chipset and fast DSL sync (fttc)
XMG3927-B50
I know the sync thing is how long is a piece of string
the old OR modem at 8 plus up and more at one time

I'm looking for a replacement for my Vigor 130, which did not play well with my new VDSL service.

Having read through many threads here, I'm getting the impression that there is no perfect option out there. Ideally, it would have:

  • Broadcom chipset for use connected to a Huawei cabinet
  • Support for jumbo frames without custom firmware
  • Wall mountable
  • Available brand new

Have I missed a product that has all this? I'm not looking to squeeze the last drop of performance out of my line, but I do need stability.

Thanks!

It wouldn't stay in sync; constant dropouts over two days with steadily decreasing sync rates. It had behaved perfectly for ADSL, but clearly didn't like me upgrading to VDSL2. I swapped it with a ZyXel which was stable straight away and sync rate recovered. I would like to swap it back and give it another try at some point, but I am trying to catch an intermittent line fault currently using ISP supplied equipment.
