VMG1312-B10A Dummies Guide Needed
« on: January 17, 2020, 03:45:43 PM »

So I'm the new owner of a vmg1312-b10a but can't for the life of me get it to load web pages.

I'm stuck with this

https://i.gyazo.com/88bdc41190627073eb631c1b09dd5f57.png

and not able to actually load pages

Is there a dummies guide to set up this device?

Thanks in advance

Ash

That's the normal status page when the modem is not connected to the internet. You can see a guide to setting up Zyxel modem/routers in bridged mode here: https://kitz.co.uk/routers/zyxel_VMG8324-B10A_bridge.htm

It's for a different model, but the setting up is similar.

Thank roseway I plan to use it in bridge mode but I'm not currently.

I've downloaded the latest firmware done a factory reset but ZEN information is showing in the login details. I had read previously about rom-d and flashing to get rid of this but I'm not sure where to find that info. I think this may be my problem?

Actually that is showing the modem has a connection to the upstream DSLAM. I see nothing wrong in that image.

If you're not with Zen then that almost certainly will be the issue. You need to change those for your ISP's details.

Internet light on the modem is green.... I have entered the bt login details but it every time I go to check the password appears to be changed to a very long one (see image)

Don't judge me  ;D I did a window diagnotic test on why I am not connection and it says "complete the logon process"

Edit: apologies for all the grammatical and spelling errors, I'm holding a 4 month old  ???

In brief, the requirements are --
  • The supervisor password.
  • Logging in as "supervisor" and clearing the ROM-D of the Zen customisation.
Once the above is done, the unit then becomes a pure vanilla ZyXEL device.

Thanks very much for your guidance!

I'm happy to get stuck in and google it all or is it worth sending the router back and trying to pick up a vanilla one?

I think what I'm trying to say is that - is it too complex for a layman?

It should not be too difficult to do . . .  :)

I've described the overall method in a number of different forum threads, over the last few years, so if you would be prepared to perform a forum search (the third tab in the above menu bar) for VMG1312-B10A and burakkucat you might find the various methods.

Sudden thought.    Have you looked under "Broadband Related > Modem Router Unlocking"?

Thanks for your help bud but I think this one might be a little too much for me.

I've spent almost all day trying to get this modem up and running to no avail. Done a little digging on what you said to search for but I'm having no joy understanding half of it. Gutted as well because I feel like I was getting close.

Send me a PM with the serial number of the VMG1312-B10A and I'll see if I can elucidate the supervisor password for you.

Okay so much thanks to the incredible help and support of Burakkucat I've been able to turn my device into a vanilla VMG1312-B10A.

One problem... it's not bringing through the traffic. Shows connected and has a green light on the hub internet indicator yet web pages time out and when I first load up I get this message from BT

I entered bthomehub@btbroadband.com as my username and BT as my password. Not sure where I am going wrong?

Have you got the VLAN set correctly in the VDSL connection section (assume you are using VDSL?).
VLAN must be active and 802.1q set as 101. 802.1p is not so critical - mine is set to 1.

Done all of that already but thanks for looking out.

Now could this be my problem or I just need my mind resting? There seems to be a password already set in the password field

when I click the reveal password there is just a long line of asterisks

when I type the BT it shows fine and the with the asterisks

Then when I apply and then come back to the settings it's back to the start again with all the asterisks

Now is that normal behaviour or is that my problem?

I believe what you are seeing with the password is normal behaviour. It's certainly the same on my VMG8924-B10A, which uses very similar firmware.
 :)

I've just noticed that I am using 'broadband.user@btinternet.com' as my username. try that perhaps?
My VDSL settings are attached.
