New Toy!
« on: September 22, 2006, 01:41:23 PM »

New Toy

Kitzy has a new toy...  well phone.

Ive had a vodafone contract since early '99, and was on PAYG for a couple of years before that so Im possibly one of their longest standing customers.
Okay, I know I was lazy, but for about the past 6 months or so the contract I was on with vodafone wasnt really suitable to my circumstances and I was paying over the odds for my needs.

Anyway this week I finally decided to do something about it..  I had a good look around and decided that the best deal for me now was probably one of the T-Mobile Flex accounts..  downside is that I would have to pay ?20 or ?30 for the phone I wanted.
But since the brat (aka my daughter) had a t-mobile phone got a introduction voucher thingy worth ?20, then it was no big deal.

So I phoned up vodafone and asked for my PAC, fair enough they offered me a deal which was better than the current one, but still not as good as the T-mobile I thought.
This was just the start of things..  I think Ive now lost track of how many phone calls Ive had from vodafone over the past few days, each offering a slightly better deal or phone.

They made me an offer a couple of days ago, that was really tempting, but me being me decided to sit it out and ponder...  then came another phone call which Ive finally gone with.

How they came to this deal.. well Im not going to complain, but just say if I bought the package from their site it would cost me ?25, plus they threw in stop the clock (another ?5).. then an additional 150 free texts.

They did phone and offer me a supposed better special limited edition phone..  but after consideration I decided to go for one that was more well known, that they'd offered earlier on.

Upshoot - basically a contract that would cost me ?30 if I bought from new for ?16pm..
and a sexi new phone.

Only problem is..  I thought I was getting an E900...  but..
Chris your jaw is gonna drop when you see what has actually turned up... because its an ultra slim edition thats only recently been released.
I keep looking at it thinking.. nooooo a phone cant be that thin.

Anyway.. off to go play and try and suss out how to work the thing.

update
Ok Ive now identified exactly which phone it is that theyve sent me - a D900

I was about to get a bit miffed because I thought I was getting an E900..  but having found out what the D900 actually is and does.. Ive changed my mind, and am one happy bunny.

Yep sure does mr_roseway..  about time I had something go right for a change.

yeah... guess I learnt from the last time we changed phones, and it was too late by the time they came up with an even better offer, cause Id just ordered another by that point.

Yea, just plain ugly looking, (price tag included).

One of my ex bosses had a nice phone once, not much bigger than a fountain pen, problem was the battery only lasted 10 minutes and a car charger was ?120.

Now how do I get the other end of my tin can to you so we can have a conflab,
"If I send my carrier pigeon with some string tied on it's leg do you think we might get much of a drop in carrier signal"

Then again, the string would cost more than the phone call, dam another money saving idea up the spout.
