Hacker Trying to Access My Unconnected VoIP ATA
« on: January 08, 2020, 08:25:10 PM »

I looked at my router's log stats and found that, the apparently well known, hacker on I.P. address 185.153.198.163 has been trying all the normal VOIP ports for an ATA that at the moment I am not using. But my rather lazy port forwarding still exists for. Is this normal occurance?

There is always hackers trying to get into our RDP where I work. We don't even use default ports ever. They just sniff the ports. So yeah i'd say it's totally normal.

Thank you for the replies. You have put my mind at rest. As an added precaution here, where I am using my Sky router as little more than a modem to connect my main router a Netgear 7000 to the internet, I had allocated the the I.P. address of the Netgear as a DMZ so as to stop the Sky router firewall getting involved in any way. But I have decided to remove that DMZ setting from the Sky router, to allow both firewalls to catch any problems. I will see if it causes any other problems in doing that...............
