Monday Chat
« on: July 07, 2008, 06:02:12 AM »

Morning all,

Dull and windy here, looks cold out too... ugh.  Belated congratulations to Kate and her hubby for 32 yrs of welded bliss...(you get less for murder ya know!) hope you have lots more anniversaries to celebrate.

Have a good day everyone whatever you've got planned.

Damp here as well and decided chilly, may have to get the passion killer winter nighties out again.

Congratulations Kate, if you get to 35 tell hubby a round the world trip is obligatory.

One recipe, this is quick and easy, my type of baking.

This is a good recipe if you have some over ripe bananas, or you can pick some up cheap 'cos they are considered too ripe. Don't worry that you end up with a bowl of something looking off colour and gloopy thats how its supposed to be. The hardest and messiest bit is getting that into the muffin cases and only the muffin cases. The recipe says raisins but I prefer sultanas and always add a bit extra.

Ingredients:

250g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
3 large ripe bananas
1 egg
70g dark brown sugar
50ml vegetable oil (I use Sunflower)
30g raisins

Pre heat oven to 375f/190C/Gas5

I recommend as large a bowl as possible for this.

With an electric hand mixer beat the peeled bananas until mashed.
Beat in the egg, sugar and oil.
Add the dry ingredients a little at a time and beat on low speed, mix until just blended, stir in the raisins.

Fill muffin cups two-thirds full. Don't over fill they will rise. (recommend you use cases)
Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Recipe says makes 10 but I usually get 8.
Best eaten slightly warm and on day of baking and sod the diet.

Enjoy.

Grey and drizzly again, but mild.............yesterday's bit of blue sky turned out to be a false dawn and it tippled down most of the day.

TD's lips are watering just reading the recipes, will get out mixing bowls and have a go.

Many congratulations to scottiesmum and Mr. scottiesmum, well done and I hope you had a great time.  :congrats: :drink:

32 years welded bliss, thats a lovely way of putting it :clap2:. congratulations.

Unfortunately spent all day in bed, got pushed over a table on saturday thanks to a rowing couple, got a nice cut and bump from were I landed on my head.  Topped of the day before, someone I've liked for some time turned me down dispite some really comments she made about me which I got 3rd hand :( ouch, I think that hurt more than anticipated

Ah well, shall have a laugh as a classic "I'm sorry I havn't a clue" is on right now
