It does mean you can install Chrome extensions from the Google store.

although not officially, as it would prefer you install extensions from the microsoft list of approved extensions.
you have to specifically permit the installation of extensions from elsewhere.

I will try it out.

vivaldi was going to be a migration from chrome for me, until I did more heavy testing on it to discover its massively slower than normal chrome, a lot of flags were disabled and some bugs, however vivaldi the fact it hasnt that enforced horrific autocomplete in the omnibar is definitely very nice for that alone.

I will see what Microsoft have done on their fork.

The thing is unless google back down and see sense I will have to "migrate" soon because chrome is about to start crippling filtering extensions such as ublock origin and umatrix.  Browsing the internet unfiltered is akin to going to war without armour.
