Updates
« on: October 17, 2007, 05:30:08 PM »

Secunia has updated the Secunia Software Inspector with new rules for
detecting insecure software.
*
Run the Secunia Software Inspector to make sure that your system is
up-to-date:
http://secunia.com/software_inspector/
*
*
*
Java Runtime Environment JRE 6 Update 3
*
Available from:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Fourth down the list.

It does not update the last version, it installs the complete new version.
So after installing, go to Control Panel, -> Add/Remove and remove all previous versions.

I know this an old topic, but I have this programme on my lappy. Its a smashing little piece of software, just updated my wireless programme. The beauty of it is it takes you straight to the relevant site to download updates.

This is the link if you want to install  the free version.

Thanks for the link dave - and for yorkie for bringing it back to topic.

I think I had misunderstood what it was able to do the first time round, and thought it was something that looked for insecure software on the PC - as in what may be a virus or other vulnerability.  As I get fed up sometimes of certain AV type progs pulling up valid files or progs that I may have written myself several years ago, then I sometimes skip over anything I think that may start nagging me about stuff I have which I know is safe   :-[

What I didnt realise is that its supposed to keep track of any existing well known software and ensure that you have the most up to date versions and patches.

Installed... and letting it do a scan now. :)
