High Pings - Sky Fiber - VMG8924-B10A - PFSense
« on: October 26, 2019, 04:19:03 PM »

Hi all

First post, I have googled and read as much as i can, I purchased a VMG8924-B10A from eBay to use in bridged mode with my sky fibre. I already have an access point and used PFsense since coming from Virgin.
I have installed it all and it all appears to be working as it should, however when playing with a fried on ghost recon was getting as lot of drop outs. I did a thinkbroadband quolity test and found the below.

The section after the second Red isn't my connection.
When i plug in the sky modem i Get this

My part is before the bigger red and then lower ping.

Have i potentially configured something incorrectly, or is the VMG8924-B10A worse than skys router (ER115).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Rob

The section after the second Red isn't my connection

What makes you think that?

It would be an unbelievable coincidence to swap modem, your I.P continues to respond to the ThinkBroadband BQM with the exact same base latency (the green bit) and it not be you.

It's not the Zyxel that is responding to the BQM but it is the PFSense box.

Do you have another router you could test with the Zyxel?

Hi all

First post,

Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

Rather like j0hn, I am having trouble fully understanding what you are describing. It almost seems as if there is a section of text missing from your post. To be specific, it is from the sentence "When i plug in the sky modem i Get this" to the end of the post that I am having trouble in rationalising.  :-\

Really sorry, think an image was removed so didn't help with my post.

I meant by it no longer being me as SKY dish out again so quickly thatin the time to swap equipment over, i had been given a new ip and think broadband was monitoring the old one that had been given out again.

Also Sorry, You are right j0hn, It was some cloud backup software that appears to have been more aggressive through pfsense than the sky router. so sorry for any time wasted.
and thank you all for previous posts i have read to get this far.
