Restore stock image on Plusnet Hub One
« on: October 08, 2019, 04:29:58 PM »

I have successfully flashed owpenwrt to a Plusnet Hub One unit before.

However on my second unit, it failed to install the lede-17.01.4-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin.

No worries I thought I will use my backup to restore stock firmware, which worked faultlessly, except as I did it overnight it defaulted to N to the unlock question:

Do you wish to unlock the u-boot prompt? This will allow use of tftpboot etc.

Unlock [y/N]: y

No when I try to run tftpboot from the BTHOMEHUBV5A # prompt tftpboot hangs:

BTHOMEHUBV5A # tftpboot 0x81000000 lede-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-installimage.bin; bootm 0x81000000
ltq_phy: addr 0, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
ltq_phy: addr 1, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
ltq_phy: addr 17, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
ltq_phy: addr 19, link 1, speed 1000, duplex 1
ltq_phy: addr 5, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
Using ltq-eth device
TFTP from server 192.168.1.2; our IP address is 192.168.1.1
Filename 'lede-lantiq-xrx200-BTHOMEHUBV5A-installimage.bin'.
Load address: 0x81000000
Loading: *

It can however access the server:

BTHOMEHUBV5A # ping 192.168.1.2
ltq_phy: addr 0, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
ltq_phy: addr 1, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
ltq_phy: addr 17, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
ltq_phy: addr 19, link 1, speed 1000, duplex 1
ltq_phy: addr 5, link 0, speed 10, duplex 0
Using ltq-eth device
host 192.168.1.2 is alive

So if anyone can tell me how to get round this I would be very grateful.

I was using the guide here:  https://fahadusman.com/installing-lede-openwrt-on-a-bt-home-hub-5-plusnet-one-router/

Welcome to the kitz forum.  :)

As to someone assisting you with your problem, it really depends upon them having done similar . . . either by following the guide (to which you have provided the link) or some similar procedure.

I don't have any experience of the task and so can only suggest that you try to contact the author of the guide.

As far as I know this is the best source for messing with HH5As/Plusnet Hub ones:
https://openwrt.ebilan.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=7

Maybe someone there has experienced similar or could offer advice if you asked.

I have unlocked a HH5A (its my main wifi AP) but I have no experience with recovering from errors during.
