Does this look like G.Fast May have been installed?
« on: October 14, 2019, 02:11:29 PM »

Last month a new module was added to the side of Our Huawei FTTC (see Dropbox links below) then yesterday our PCP was replaced with a new box (see Dropbox links below) which has an attachment on the side, would this be an indication that G.Fast is being installed at my cab?

It's not G.Fast.

The slim extension on the FTTC cabinet is a High Density expansion.
It increases space in the FTTC cabinet to increase capacity from 288 ports/lines to up to 384 ports.

The extension pod on the PCP is usually installed at the same time particularly if the PCP is full inside.
It simply contains IDC blocks for the tie cables.

The PCP can need a re-shell to add the copper extension pod. Looks like you're needed the re-shell also.

Basically it allows more FTTC customers.

So, looks like more crosstalk and lower speeds for me then!

Not really no.

My PCP has...
1 x ECI DSLAM (256 ports)
then later got
1 x Huawei DSLAM (288 ports)

The Huawei DSLAM was extended from 288 lines to 384 lines well over a year ago and I've not seen any additional crosstalk since.
I've not seen much additional crosstalk since shortly after the Huawei was installed.

Crosstalk has less of an impact after you reach a high number of subscribers. 288 to 384 lines could have no impact.
