Submarine cables

This interactive map website is utterly fantastic; you can click on different undersea cables and identify names and owners, and you can click on nodes marked on them for information too

    https://www.submarinecablemap.com

For example: https://www.submarinecablemap.com/#/submarine-cable/tampnet-offshore-foc-network

I had not even spotted that ! I see they have grouped associated links into meaningful sets.

Amazing that there is a node here and there at off-shore oil-rig platforms. I suppose it makes sense as they really need the comms; and rf might be too iffy? Distances too great? I would think good comms is a safety / emergency feature too. And the staff working away from home must appreciate decent bandwidth a lot. There are quite a few people round here who work on oil rigs, so Janet tells me.
