Gratuitous boys

A picture of my two boys, Pangur Bàn (left) and Somhairle, for no good reason at all, just they were very beautiful at that moment

Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to see three kittehs!  :-\

After considering the contortions, I now agree two kittehs.  :-[

(Has big-Tom caught that rat which was causing destruction in the stable?)

Tom has eaten a huge rat in fact! I don’t know if there are more to come. He has been put on duty in the garage too for a bit.

I can’t see three kittens; I think I can see what you’re seeing.

In fact, Janet points out that Tom has recently eaten two rats. There was the one which was half eaten by hens and half by Tom and then a second more recent one. he had stomach ache for a day or so after the second one ; He came and asked Janet for some milk and then sniffed it and left it.

You recounted how Betty & her flock ganged up on Tom and took away the rear end of a rat (that he had caught in the garage) and was currently devouring.

Precisely. He’s doing a good job. I haven’t seen him in ages, so perhaps he’s busy. But if not he’s asleep in the kitchen on the chair or in the hallway. He can even tolerate being in the kitchen despite the presence of the other two boys. Somhairle still growls at Tom; Tom ignores this completely.

Tom, pre-rat probably:

Somhairle (left), Ciarán (dog), Beileag (right). Amazingly, the dog was brave enough to go in the middle when the two cats were already in their positions. He trusts them more and more. Beileag and Buidheag rub round the dog’s legs. Pangur Bán has always grumbled at the poor dog, on account of his unlicensed enormity, and Pangur has tried to bop him (without claws out), but the grumbling has recently ceased.

Nice to see them together, even if there is a good paw striking distance between them all :D

My retriever used to know that the cats were the bosses.   The 2 younger ones got on fine with him as they were kittens, but Sam who was probably about 8 when we got the dog, learned to tolerate his presence but was always willing to put the dog back in his place despite its size and strength.

When Pangur Bán was very tiny he was frightened of the dog, as Ciarán used to get on the bed and lie down next to Pangur and the other cats. The kitten couldn’t understand why no one else reacted to the dog, which was far far too large and obviously a threat to life on account of his unsanctioned size. Despite his grumbling and glaring the dog complete ignored Pangur’s noises. It’s only now that the grown up kitten is finally having to give up on this nonsense.

But there is no danger of anyone scratching anyone else at all now and the dog has finally worked out that he really is safe to join the cats.

I have just been hit in the guts in the middle of the night; trampled by a low flying hissing Buidheag, because Pangur Bán was trying to play with her, chased her and she ran over me in bed, jumped on my stomach and then fled up the six-foot-high cat pole which is in the corner ; the pole has a platform on the side and a nest near the top, which Buidheag loves a lot. I think it is beneath Buidheag’s diginity if one of the kittens attempts to play with her, although they do get on fine normally and kiss noses when they meet.
