Falling Sync Rate on Superfast2 FTTC
« on: September 02, 2019, 08:25:12 PM »

Hi Everyone,
Up until around April 2019 I had the full 80/20 Sync on voda superfast 2 for almost a full year.
Since then the download sync has been suddenly dropping in stages by 3 or 4 mbit/s every few weeks, going up a little, then down again and is now at 62/20.

It did once peak back up to 70/20 about a month ago, but after a power cut which lasted for a few hours it returned to 62/20 when the power returned.

I've tried the voda tech support route, but found they are no more helpful than Garfield, my pet cat  :)

So by the looks of it, it's self help and asking for advice from others until my contract ends in November.

So i've tried another all in one router/modem, a TP-Link TD-W9970 in the BT Master socket with brand new filter and it's still the same so far. I have copy/pasted the (maybe limited) stats at the end of this message.

Please could anyone help or advise?
Many thanks in advance

I remember kitz mentioned once that TPlink devices don't have some critical dsl info by default.

Maybe give this a try?

If I am reading that correctly you are syncing at 62329kbps with a SNR of 6.3dB (I assume that's what 'downstreamNoiseMargin=63' means?) on the DS side.
The fact that the modem thinks the max DS rate is 75242 suggests a Retransmission High profile I believe (perhaps a more knowledgeable member can confirm).
I can't see any G.INP info in the stats so can't be sure if that is active or not (probably not).

If you could let us have a screenshot from BT's dslchecker (https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/)  then we can probably work out if you are on an ECI or Huawei cabinet. Remember to blank out your phone number on the screenshot.
 :)
