any way to allow the HG612 modem to pass protocol 41
« on: August 06, 2019, 08:13:55 PM »

Hi
is there anyway to setup or modify the hg612 to allow passing of protocol 41?
I use mine as a modem/router setup i tried turning off the firewall and put my host in the DMZ zone to see if it would work but cant get any packets to ping a ipv6 server.
i am using a tunnel from hurricane electric.

I have to confess ignorance . . . I have no idea what protocol 41 provides or allows.  :-[

I too had no idea what protocol 41 was until I Googled it. Apparently it is an IPv6 tunneling protocol and as such I can't see that if the IPv6 frames are being encapsulated in IPv4 frames the HG612 would know anything about it.

Hi

We use a lot of hg612 (but in bridge mode) with hurricane electric and have no issues at all

I would check your ipv6 gateway

Many thanks

Hi
I am not using it in bridged mode I have it in router mode.  Will have to try it in bridged mode.  What router do you use with it?

Hi
Could you tell me what settings I need to have on my hg612 to put into bridge mode as currently in router mode. Maybe screenshots of the settings

Thanks
Paul

Just give the reset button a long-push (press and hold it for, say, 20 seconds). That will revert the HG612 back to its default, bridge mode.
