Rat
« on: August 04, 2019, 10:24:15 AM »

Thomas is finally earning his keep - just killed a rat. There are rats in the donkey stable. The beggars have drilled a hole through the wood into the space between the inner wooden lining and outer wood cladding of the stable’s walls. So it seems that he doesn’t just eat bunnies and bought cat food.

I recommend him for the title of "Senior Rodent Operative", with a distinction.  :)

Thomas ate half of it and then was attacked by the hens, who pecked at him in order to steal the back-end half of the rat. The birds then ran off with rat, to squabble amongst themselves. A thoroughly disgusting mob.

Ah but they may lay quality eggs in the next few days!

Omelette, anyone?

Oh dear - they'll be rat-arsed then.   :(

   Groan. Genius from 4Candles.

Of course hens are very much omnivores, they eat worms after all.

I can’t eat eggs at the moment because the medication I’m on (probably pregabalin responsible) makes them taste like fish and fairy liquid.

Wow, haven't noticed Pregabalin change my tastebuds mercifully.

Good kitty. Ours have delivered live bats to us in the past. Live birds, dead birds, an entire birds' nest, voles, frogs, etc.

I can't wait to see what they bring us once we've moved.

I must have misunderstood. There is more than one huge rat. Janet saw him in the stable and the earlier one I was told about was in the garage. The shot into a hole in the side of the building. The plan is to shut Thomas in the donkey shed (sans donkeys) for a few hours.
