Manage even to drop snr a little bit to gain bit better speed, looks like eci modem still can do something.
To @j0hn,
I got my new toy on the way (asus dsl-ac 88u) do you know if I can cap my speed on this one to get rid off interleave on move on to fast patch?
Yes you can
Well, something was activated on my line few weeks back, snr drop from 6db to 4db and spped increased from 69,something to over 70 (can't remember exactly).
It's unlikely anything was activated or changed but more likely there was a local outage or a DSLAM/cabinet reboot.
You connect before other lines on the cabinet at the target 6dB. As you connect before other lines that cause crosstalk, you sync higher.
When the other lines finally connect a few seconds/minutes later the noise/crosstalk they produce lowered the current SNRM to 4dB.
The target is still 6dB though. This is a very common occurrence.
The DLM only ever changes the target SNRM in 1dB increments.
It will go from 6dB to 5dB, but never 6dB to 4dB.
ECI cabinets have a fixed 6dB SNRM target on all lines as they don't have G.INP which OpenReach have decided is necessary for 5/4/3dB SNRM target.
