Plusnet Router
« on: July 02, 2019, 11:29:10 PM »

Hi can the Plusnet Hub One Router be used as a modem? There seems to be differing opinions on the Plusnet forum.

I have an Asus router which I wish to use, if I have to get a separate modem to use with it what would be a suitable one?

I only get speeds of 70Mbps and the router is an ac2600.

Thanks

Should be able to pick up a HG612 quite cheap on ebay these days.. or perhaps one of the Zyxel VMGxxxx-B10A run in bridge mode

HG612s used to be available for less than the price of a cheap pint, but they are up in the £10+ range now.

If you are below the max for your package, which it seems you are at 70mbps on an 80 plan, then a VMGxxxx-B10A could net you a higher sync than a HG612.

VMG8324-B10As can still be found (relatively) cheaply on ebay, so thats what I would recommend. Just watch the auction site for a while and swoop.

But I'm biased as they have firmware source available and are fun to mess with.
