A USAF B52 Bomber Can Make a Lot of Noise
« on: June 19, 2019, 04:51:56 PM »

And not only noise but also cause tactile vibrations.  :o

The usual peace of "The Cattery" was rather disturbed, twice, early last Monday evening (17th June 2019) as it circled before landing safely.

Here is the BBC's report on the incident.

I would have liked to see and hear that and also feel it in your chest .  :)

We used to get Concord fly in to EMA above the field at the end of our garden as we are on one of the flight paths in to the airport some miles away.  ;D

Noise and vibrations, yes. Thinking back to the early 1970s I was visiting RAF Scampton at the time when the Avro Vulcan was still being flown as an operational aircraft, though not as a nuclear deterrent. Photography was not permitted but climbing the steps and putting one's head inside was encouraged.  :)

Later that same week a Vulcan was due to perform at an air show and one the pilots was performing a fly-through of the planned routine. The finale was a very low level pass, after-burners selected and the Rolls-Royce Olympus engines taken to 91% - 92% thrust. Anyone with loose dental fillings suddenly found that they had fallen out!  :D
