Do you use Windows Defender?
« on: August 20, 2019, 12:40:18 PM »

If you're checking for corrupt files using sfc /scannow via command prompt, and have discovered data corruption in Windows Defender (v/common :() MS has now issued a fix.
As noted in this site https://borncity.com/win/2019/08/19/microsoft-fixes-the-windows-defender-sfc-bug-august-2019/

I have found this script on page 1 of this site has corrected the problem my pc https://www.tenforums.com/performance-maintenance/137175-sfc-reports-corruption-issues-all-4-my-pcs-after-recent-update.html

Search for post by 'AddRAM' you need an elevated command prompt to use, took about 20mins to fix my pc

Does this mean that the actual Windows Defender exe file itself really is corrupted, either the exe or else an associated DLL if applicable? So it won’t run ? Or alternatively the master reference copy that sfc compares against is corrupted ? So a check fails but you can still run Windows Defender.
