I would disable it in the mobo bios. This is the best option as it would be completely out of Windows 10 control.
Then use this to remove all traces https://www.thewindowsclub.com/show-non-present-devices-windows
The sound problem was the Realtek sound manager s/w  :-X

Yes, had not realised that there were so many recorded issues associated with Realtek network chips & Win 10, still strange that everything worked perfectly with the new build PC for 2 months before I started experiencing network connectivity issues.

Strange that you’re having problems with your onboard LAN connection, I have the same mobo and haven’t noticed any issues in the 3 months since I built it.

The 1903 update went quickly and smoothly for me, I haven’t noticed anything not behaving, but early days.

If it helps I’m using the LAN driver that was installed during the setup of the machine and it seems OK.

@pooclagh

Thanks for the response & interest.
I had absolutely no problems with the original MoBo build, Ryzen-5 CPU, no issues for at least 2 months as reported earlier, I was very pleased with the PC performance, very fast with the M.2 NVMe system disk, although not a gamer I found that the CPU in-built Radeon graphics were most impressive on GPU intensive operations such as Hashcat.

Believe me, I have now tried every available driver combination both Realtek and Windows for the Realtek network chip which is a "8118 Gaming LAN" the current driver in use is the latest listed for this chip on the Realtek web site.
Hopefully snapshot attached.

@g3uiss:Sounds like a very good idea, how is this achieved in Win 10 ?

Settings - windows update- advanced- there you will see options to delay feature updates ( up to 365 days) and normal updates ( up to 5 I think )

Can't find this feature, from on line searches I believe it is a Win 10 Pro only option, could be wrong, I am running Win 10 Home on all my systems.

Yes only Win 10 pro/enterprise/education has these options :(
However you could try using "Download over metered connection" switch to limit win 10 updates to all but the most important.
Or you could upgrade you copy to pro using win 7 pro key

£3.98  :) (MS still happy to use these)

@parkdale

Thanks for the confirmation ref. Win 10 Pro and the work around suggestions, will give that further consideration.

Only noticed your earlier reply to my question ref. disabling MoBo on board LAN, still awaiting the arrival of the new Intel PCIe NIC from Amazon, I can't justify subscribing to Amazon Prime and they certainly like to make you wait if you don't.

Also thanks to Eric (roseway) for the sound advice as always.

Have now received and fitted an Intel PCIe NIC, fully "plug & play" configuratioin, no issues.

The MoBo, on board Realtek LAN has been fine for over a week then yesterday for no apparent reason started to randomly not connect at very frequent intervals, had to be un-installed / re-installed to reinstate, un-installing always locked up the shutdown sequence and had to be down powered by force, driving me mad.

As per the earlier suggestions would have prefered to un-install the Realtek LAN in BIOS, however, there does not appear to be any way to do so on my Gigabyte MoBo, Legacy BIOS.
I can un-install via Win Device Manager but can't find any way of stopping automatic reinstallation at next re-boot.
Currently have to settle for disabling the Realtrek LAN which at least survives a re-boot and does not appear to be causing any network issues in that state, time will tell !

Edit, typo correction.
