HG612 swap from DM200 - unable to get internet

(1/2) > >>

Hi guys,

First of all, thanks for all the hard work on this site, used a lot of the guides on here and managed to get DSLStats working across my network through the WAN port (Chrysalis/Dray TYVM).

I am getting stuck trying to swap my modem to the HG612 (unlocked 3B variant), the modem syncs and gathers all my line information perfectly but I am unable to access the internet. My current set up is as follows:

ISP (Zen Internet Fibre 2 FTTC 80/20) -> Netgear DM200 -> Edgerouter X -> LAN

With this set up the internet is fully functional, no issues with speed at all. I am wanting to swap the modems over to access my line stats as this is something the DM200 appears to completely lack.

I have tried making suggested adjustments within the HG612 such as swapping bridge mode between IP_Bridge and PPPoE_Bridge, turning VLAN 101 on and off, added VCI/VPI info as recommended by my ISP to the ATM settings, and resetting the modem to default settings. It's clear the HG612 is connecting to the external network but not allowing the edgerouter access.

I'm at a loss for what to try next as the DM200 is working without issue as things stand (as did my DSL-AC68u before I moved to a modem+router set up).

My DSL stats from the HG612 while it is connected are:

DSLAM type / SW version:   IFTN:0xb206 (178.6) / v0xb206

Any ideas/help/pointers would be gratefully received.

Looks like I have fixed it.

For future reference, anyone setting up a PPPoE connection on an Edgerouter X keep VLAN off (mine was set to 101 as suggested by Zen within the edgerouter!)

Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

Yes, that is correct. The VLAN (tagged 101) end-point should be the HG612 and not the routing device.

It seems like the person at your ISP/CP, with whom you were communicating, does not know much about the products they supply. VCI/VPI and ATM for a VDSL2 (ITU-T G.993.2) based service? Huh? No.   It should, of course, be PTM.

Zag:
I should have been a bit more clear, Zen mention VCI/VPI settings within their connection settings paperwork online and I found a user with a similar sounding issue had resolved this by entering this information so put 2 and 2 together and got 22 I guess!

All set up and working happily now, just got to wait on a DLM profile reset as I'm sure that my interleaving being over 1300 is a bit excessive. That said, so far Zen have been great to deal with, not that sky were bad for customer service in the 20 or so days I was with them, just had no end of issues with the connection (hence my high DLM).

Thanks for the welcome  :)

You're on Low Interleaving, which is the default profile for your ECI cabinet.

The 1300 Interleaving is irrelevant and that fugue varies with the sync.
INP=3 shows show it's Low Interleaving and in the detailed stats there will be a delay of 8, adding 8ms.

Out of interest who said they are doing a DLM reset for you.
I was under the impression the remote DLM reset procedure was stopping.
My understanding is it would keep the line on Low Interleaving anyway.
